Golden plains stretch to every horizon, their tall grasses rippling in winds that carry the scent of wildflowers and distant rain. Dense forests rise where the plains end, their interiors laced with crystalline caves that glitter like underground galaxies. Rugged highlands form the backbone of entire continents, their peaks shrouded in mist and mystery. Hidden groves of silverleaf trees — whose luminous leaves glow softly at night — are scattered throughout the wilderness, sacred places that only the most experienced explorers can find.
Kaus is a city built for movement, its wide avenues and open architecture designed to never make its inhabitants feel confined. Markets, stables, and expedition outposts line every street. At the city's heart stands the Temple of Stars, constructed from the hull of The Nomad — the ship that carried the Sagittarius tribe to this world. Inside, the temple's ceiling is a map of the cosmos, updated by astronomers who chart the stars with the same passion that the tribe's explorers chart the land below.
Silverleaf trees are Ascella's most iconic flora, their leaves casting a gentle silver glow that illuminates the forest floor at night. Starlight Blossoms open only under the stars, their white petals absorbing celestial light and releasing it as a soft luminescence. Velvet Ferns carpet the forest floors in deep green. The fauna is equally remarkable — wild horses roam the plains in vast herds, their manes streaming in the wind. Iridescent birds flash through the forest canopy, and glowing mammals emerge at dusk, their bioluminescent fur lighting paths through the darkening woods.
The Sagittarius tribe lives for adventure, exploration, and the bonds forged on the road. Unity and adaptability are their greatest strengths — they believe that a people who never stop moving can never be broken. The Festival of Stars is their greatest celebration, a night when the entire tribe gathers under the open sky to share stories of their journeys, honour fallen explorers, and chart new paths forward. The Horse-Rider Ceremony marks the sacred bond between rider and mount, a partnership considered as deep and unbreakable as family.
Sagittarius mythology holds that centaurs are spiritual guardians born from the stars themselves — celestial beings who chose to descend to Ascella to guide and protect the tribe. Kaeron the Celestial Centaur is the mythical leader of these star-born guardians, a figure of extraordinary courage and foresight who is said to appear in times of great need, galloping across the sky as a constellation come to life. The tribe believes that the stars are not merely distant suns but the campfires of those who have journeyed beyond the mortal realm.
Ascella provides the scouts, pathfinders, and bold vanguard of the alliance in the Starpaths Saga.
