Flaregrass

Hardy grass that grows between volcanic rocks across the plains and valleys of Arietis. Coarse, purple-tipped, sharp as knives.

Flaregrass is the dominant ground cover of the volcanic plains — tough, resilient, and sharp enough to draw blood from unprotected skin. Its purple tips are caused by mineral absorption from the volcanic soil. Cindershorns graze on it alongside Brimroot.

The Aries learned quickly not to walk barefoot in the grasslands. Boots reinforced with Fireshell hide became standard issue for scouts and farmers alike. Despite its hostility, Flaregrass stabilises the loose volcanic soil and prevents ash-slides near settlements.
