Two long tail feathers trailing like ribbons
Large soaring birds of river valleys, cliffs and high open country. Two exceptionally long tail feathers trail behind them like ribbons, twisting independently in the wind.
Ribbonwings exploit the competing thermal currents created by the twin suns and can remain airborne for hours with almost no visible wingbeat. Their spiralling flight is often used by travellers to judge conditions higher in the atmosphere.
