Lavarachnid

Oversized, heat-loving spiders with too many glowing eyes and a tolerance for magma vents. They skitter into cracks at the first sign of torchlight.

Lavarachnids spin webs of heat-resistant silk between rocks near thermal vents, catching Ember Lizards and Glowfang Beetles. Despite their unsettling appearance, they are largely harmless to the Aries — preferring to flee rather than fight.

The children of Hamal dare each other to approach Lavarachnid nests. None have yet succeeded in touching one. The creatures are faster than they look and vanish into crevices too narrow for human hands to follow.
