Wing cases that hum as the wind crosses them
Thumb-sized beetles with metallic wing cases crossed by deep parallel ridges. Wind passing across the ridges produces a faint humming tone. When the beetle lifts its wings to fly, a second, slightly higher note appears.
Large colonies in the grasslands create a low, irregular music after sunset. Twilight Gliders feed heavily upon them.
